Welcome to the revamped self-centered.org!
First thing you’ll notice is that this blog is now the doormat of the site. It will also be where you can find actual news related to both the site and Mahaffey-related happenings.
Second thing you’ll notice is a refreshed look & feel. I’m still twiddling the knobs, so things aren’t anywhere near ‘complete’ yet, but it’s getting there. Any glitches should be reported in the forums.
Tablature is next up on the list — it’s been broken for far too long. Next will be convergence between the forum, blog and site content (media, lyrics, etc.).
This is GREAT!!!!!!
Love it Spencer!!!!!!!!!!
We are so awesomely radical here. This is going to be so great. Love the graphics at top. Haven’t even made it over to the forums or looked around yet. Ill let you know how that is too!

Hey KRF, thanks for the feedback! Glad ya dig it… You probably noticed that the forums are offline at the moment… they’ll be back soon. =)
Two things so far:
- “Out with a Bang” appears twice on the song list, it looks like some coding is wrong
- I remember there used to be Matt’s comments on some songs, but they disappeared with the previous version. Will they ever come back?
I love the pic of Matt at the console with his head in his hands….
Very nice.I like the new look. How about a RSS/Atom Feed?
@Friedenmann, thanks for the heads up about OWAB. There’s a dup in the DB which I’ll fix shortly. As for the Matt’s comments, I have the data, it just never made it over from the XML to SQL switchover I did. I’ll add it to the todo list. =)
@Brandon Thanks! Actually, we have feeds available, the URLs just aren’t public yet. I’ll just link to them right here for now so you can add them to your reader of choice:
News feed (RSS 2.0)
Blog comments feed (RSS 2.0)
Forum Posts feed (RSS 0.92)
Let me know if you have any issues w/ them…
both slick and lightweight == <3
hey spencer, is this landing-blog also part of the SimpleMachines software? I was just thinking about installing it to a CentOS VM to play around with it.
Hey HP! Sadly, it’s not not the same software as SMF, but the forums will stay in SMF indefinitely since it’s the best for the job. We need to come up with a way to allow people to use their existing accounts to login to WordPress and eventually to Disqus, etc… I’m thinking that the timing for WP and SMF’s OpenID support is promising.
Send me a PM with what ya got in mind for your SMF sandbox… =)
Aaah WordPress ok. I did notice that the blog site drops the “www.” from the usual URL. Our news site does currently use WordPress, but I haven’t touched that part of the site at all so I haven’t had the need to look at the guts of the WP beast. I’ll ping your selfies SMF-site PM.
FWIW, ‘www.’ is obsolescent and will be as ubiquitous as the tilde in about 2-5 more years. I’ve always hated it, but sometimes I’m forced to use it, in which case I ask myself if it’s 1998 already. =)
I heard it was powered by fluffy bunny rabbits
You new design’s still screwing under IE (tested under 7). The left column (content) appears under the menu instead of next to it. You could try to add “float: left” to that div in css, if it’s not that, the div is too wide, and IE just throws it below (different browsers have different margins and font sizes for no logical reason). Either way it’s probably something trivial you can fix in an eye blink.
I’d also make the post/news background a bit brighter. Dark gray backgrounds aren’t pleasant to read from.
Do you have anywhere besides amazon.com that you sell your music?
